Full text of "Memoirs of the late Thomas Holcroft," See other formats. Biography. Holcroft is the second of three sons born to Lt. Col. Patrick Holcroft, a soldier and banker, and Kathleen "Annie" Holcroft (née Roberts), a publisher at Condé elder brother, Oliver Holcroft, is a former soldier who served with the Grenadier Guards in Afghanistan. Edward was sent to boarding school at age 8, first attending prep school at Summer Fields School in Oxford.

[ This and the remaining Chapters of the first Book are in Mr. Holcroft's own words. ] 'I was born in London, in Orange Court, Leicester Fields, on the 10th day of December, , old style; and was baptized and registered in St. Martin's church, where my name is erroneously written Howlcroft. Thomas Holcroft was a central figure of the s, whose texts played an important role in the transition toward Romanticism.
